MEXICO – Selectmen will discuss the possible start-up of a junior firefighter program when they meet today.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Office conference room.

David Errington, the assistant to the town manager, said the Mexico Fire Department is considering a junior firefighter program in part because of the difficulty in finding volunteers. Several youngsters have shown interest in becoming a part of such a group.

Selectmen will discuss various issues related to organizing such a group, such as costs and insurance liability.

Other agenda items include an update on the town’s general assistance program, a discussion on a tax-acquired property, and a discussion on the procedures required for a town review.
