Field trips

BETHEL – It’s not too late to sign up for the Androscoggin Watershed Institute’s fall field workshops on wildlife and fisheries. People may join some of the region’s top wildlife biologists on visits to places along Maine’s Androscoggin River, New Hampshire’s Lake Umbagog, and the White Mountain National Forest. They will learn about the ways of loons, eagles, moose, trout and other species and find out about important issues facing these and other animals in northern New England.

The first field trip workshop is Saturday, Oct. 9, in the Bethel area, and the second is Saturday, Oct. 16, in the White Mountains and Lake Umbagog regions of New Hampshire. The workshops will include guided nature walks, a canoe trip, and a pontoon boat ride. All to feature the Androscoggin Watershed’s special wildlife and fisheries habitats.

More information may be obtained on the Internet at www.androscogginriver.org or by calling 603-466-3433. The $60 registration fee for each daylong workshop includes lunch and more.
