Dear Sun Spots: We are looking for used or new children’s shoes (baby to age 8) to take to Honduras in late December on a work mission. We also need summer clothing for this age group. Thank you. We can be reached at (207) 778-3722. – Karyl Condit, Farmington.

Dear Sun Spots: This letter isn’t a question or an answer – just a thank you for all the interesting information in the Sun Spots column. I moved here four years ago for family reasons, but I lived on Pine Street in Lewiston for 36 years.

I was particularly interested in reading about WCSH-TV news reporters (Aug. 9 column). I saw Dan Harris on an ABC news program last spring, and I thought he was the same one who used to be in Portland. He has certainly had had an amazing life the past few years!

I have also seen other former Maine TV news and weather reporters from this area. I wonder if anyone in Lewiston-Auburn recognizes Heather Tesch, a weather girl on The Weather Channel. She was living in Brunswick at one time and was a weekend meteorologist for a very short time on one of the Portland TV stations. – Madelyn L. P., Arlington, Mass.

Dear Sun Spots: One day recently at the Auburn Post Office we were mailing packages to the boys overseas. There was an elderly lady in the line behind us who we engaged in conversation about what we were doing. She asked many questions and thought it was a good idea. She left and returned a few minutes later with $20 to help with the postage and goodies. She said it was a good way to spend her tithing. We were so astounded we forgot to get her name or phone number. If this lady would please contact us at (207) 782-8253 it would be greatly appreciated. If any of your readers would also like to join us in support of our troops they should feel free to call us. – Keiko and Norman Ingerson, Lewiston.

Dear Sun Spots: You accomplish so much through this column, and I’m hopeful that this note will also produce good results.

I feel that there must be a nonprofit organization out there, or someone else, who could use a 20-year-old Sears Kenmore washer and dryer. They are in good condition, harvest gold in color and free. Please call (207) 998-2580 for more information. Thank you. – Sue Barry, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for anyone that can help me to send used books to a prison in Texas. They only accept books received from a bookstore (new or used) or a publishing company. Books are from many different establishments, and I can’t find anyone who will ship for me unless they are bought new in the store and shipped by them directly. Any leads will be greatly appreciated. I can be reached at (207) 786-0797. – A. Faunce, Lewiston.
