AUBURN – A surprise party was held recently for James R. and J. Muriel Roberts of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Auburn. The event was held in Rockland and was planned by children of the couple, Suzanne Fyfe, Jay Roberts, Marcie Hird and Robyn Roberts-Yarnevich.
The couple renewed their vows on the beach at the ocean. Their children surprised them with a week in Rockland, including the whole family.
Mr. Roberts and the former Muriel Briand were married on Sept. 4, 1954, at St. Joseph’s Church in Epping, N.H. In addition to their children mentioned above, their grandchildren are Scott Fyfe, Jennifer Fyfe, Jacob Roberts, Gil Hird, Callie Hird, Dylan Roberts, Shawn Hird, and Matthew, Alexander and Noah and Caleb Roberts-Yarnevich. They also have a great-grandson, Jordan Fyfe.
The couple resided in Auburn for many years. Mr. Roberts is owner and operator of Riviera Maintenance in Scottsdale, Ariz.
