PARIS – Debbie St. Pierre is a woman on a mission.
St. Pierre, a member of the Paris Conservation Commission for the past four years, wants to make the town-owned public lands more appealing to the public.
But she needs help.
“We need new members,” she said.
She, Stewart Mason and Gail Brusoe are the only members on the committee now, and there is room for three more. There’s also room for “as many associate members as we like,” she said.
St. Pierre wants to organize a trail-clearing project this fall in the Cornwall Preserve at the base of Paris Hill Road.
“Many of these areas have not been visited by people for years, as most residents are unaware they exist,” she said.
She said people who love the outdoors are welcome to participate.
“This is a unique opportunity to meet new people, get involved with local organizations and experience some natural areas right here, in your own backyard,” she said.
She urges anyone who would like to participate to come to the commission’s next meeting, at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at Paris Town Hall.
“Anybody can enjoy this. We’re hoping people will come and just see if it’s for them.”
