FAIRFIELD – Randal C. Newton died on Sept. 28 at Inland Hospital in Waterville.

He was born on June 25, 1957 in Portland, the son of Carlton and Beverly (Norton) Newton.

He grew up in Pittsfield, Maine and graduated from MCI in 1975. He went on to Maine Maritime Academy, graduating in 1980 as a Licensed U.S. Merchant Marine Officer, 3rd Assistant Engineer specializing in Steam and Motor Vessels.

He worked as a Merchant Marine for 12 years traveling to many parts of the world. For the last eight years he worked for the Physical Plant Department at Colby College in Waterville.

He leaves behind some very special friends; also his mother, Beverly Newton, of Pittsfield; his uncle Roderic Newton, of Turner; many cousins, as well as his Colby co-workers and neighbors.

Randy was predeceased this year by his sister, Rhonda Newton. He is also predeceased by his father Carlton E. Newton, and his grandparents, Calvin and Marjorie (Briggs) Norton, and Wilbur and Ellen (DeCoster) Newton.
