AUBURN – “Active Parenting of Teens,” a six-week workshop designed to help parents engaged in the challenge of raising teenagers, will begin Thursday, Oct. 7 at Auburn Middle School.

Free and open to the public, the workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 7 to Nov. 18 (no class Nov. 11). Free child care will be provided and refreshments will be served.

“The workshop will offer strategies, support and simple ideas that work for parents of teens and pre-teens looking for ways to peacefully and effectively navigate the teen years at home,” said Luci Merin, director of Auburn’s Community Learning Center at Auburn Middle School.

Topics covered will include parenting styles, courage and self-esteem, teen behavior, problem-solving, responsibility and discipline, cooperation, communication and specific issues facing teens today.

Facilitated by Mary Ellen Taylor, the workshop is being sponsored by Advocates for Children and Auburn’s Community Learning Center at Auburn Middle School.
