ANDOVER – A person out for a drive found a man’s body lying off to the side of the South Arm Road on Saturday afternoon, according to police.

Captain James Miclon at the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said the dead man appears to match a missing person’s report out of Rumford. When asked if the man were G. Michael Chaisson, a pastor reported missing 10 days ago, Miclon declined comment.

The identity will be released after notification of next of kin, he said.

“We know who he is,” Miclon said. “There’s no signs of what would be the cause of death.”

He said the man’s body was found on the ground near a vehicle and appeared to have been there for a while. The initial call came in Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and by nightfall the body had been taken to Augusta for an autopsy. Miclon said the results of toxicity tests could take weeks.

Chaisson of Rumford was last seen driving a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice with the license plate FR-MIKE. He has led the North American Old Roman Catholic church there for the last year -and-a-half.
