WINTHROP – Andy Pellett headed the ball off a pass from Dave Zimmerman to propell Winthrop to a 3-1 win over Dirigo in MVC soccer action Saturday afternoon.

Zimmerman and Pellett combined for the Ramblers (3-5-5) first goal with Zimmerman picking up the score. Jason Allen rounded out the scoring in the win adding an insurance goal with 7:17 left to play in the second half.

Dirigo scored with 30:15 left in the first half on a unassisted shot by Jon Smith.

Mike Gingrass logged the win stopping 12 shots, while the Cougars (3-10) Lenny Hall turned back 18 shots.
