PORTLAND – Blanche I. Biron, 85, formerly of Martha Avenue, Lewiston, Quaker Road, Westbrook and Fogg Road in Scarborough, passed away peacefully at Maine Medical Center Tuesday morning, Oct. 12.

She was born in Lewiston, May 4, 1919, a daughter of Joseph and Laura Roy Gagnon. She was educated in Lewiston schools and later worked at Bath Iron Works during World War II. She later married Vincent C. Biron on June 29, 1946; he passed away Aug. 1, 1994.

She worked for various shoe shops before retiring in 1981, from Crest Shoe, after 27 years of service. She was a member of St. Edmund’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling and played for the Country Cousin Bowling League of Westbrook. Her enjoyments included wintering in Florida, with Vincent, following the Red Sox, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters, Lorraine Lachapelle and her husband, Normand, of Scarborough, Linda Nadeau and Tom St. Onge, both of Auburn; grandchildren, Michelle Sirois and her husband, Steve, of Scarborough, Christine Landry and husband, Rich, of Berlin, N.H., Scot Nadeau, of Auburn, LCPL Cory Nadeau, USMC, of Auburn, and Matt Nadeau, of Auburn; great-grandchildren, Ben and Maddie Sirois, Matthew and Brayden Landry; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Nadeau, brothers, Lucien and Roland Gagnon; and a good friend, Gertrude Godin.
