BETHEL – The next lecture in the Bethel Historical Society series will feature Robert Spidell, Andover native, residing in San Clemente, Calif. He will speak on his native town, which this year observed the bicentenary of its incorporation.

The lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14 at the Dr. Moses Mason House meeting room. Spidell has spent years studying the history of Andover, and last year edited and published a book on Pynelis.

Club outing

PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club in South Paris is supporting a beginner’s square dance party for anyone who wishes to try square dancing and have an outing, too.

The party will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the Boothbay Regional YMCA. Bill Fulton will be the caller. Anyone interested in joining a caravan to the dance or wishes more detailed directions may call Sue Corning, club president, at 743-7176.
