STRATTON – The Stratton Elementary PTC is preparing for its annual Haunted Hayride from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Cathedral Pines Campground in Eustis, four miles north of Stratton.

The cost is $4, with group and family discounts available. There will be four flatbeds to take participants around the sites. Senior citizens and the handicapped will be able to take their vehicles through the route. There will also be discounted prices for full vans of seniors and nursing home residents.

Once again the Drop Dead Cafe will sell hot dogs, popcorn, chili and hot cocoa during the hayride.

Sites are filling up, but organizers say they are still looking for volunteers to set up haunted scenes, still or “live,” along the route. Students may set up sites providing there is an adult chaperone present at all times. There is no cost for volunteers to assume responsibility for a site, and volunteers may take the hayride free. All sites have electricity and fireplaces (bring firewood).

The PTC reminds everyone to dress warmly. Those who would like to volunteer (a variety of jobs are available) should contact Deb Buschmann at 246-2324.
