AUBURN – Maine children’s author Jennifer Richard Jacobson will join children and their families at the Auburn Public Library’s new location at the Auburn Mall at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20. Through lively storytelling, slides and props, Jacobson will share ways in which her life experiences sneak into her stories.

Jacobson’s first books were picture books, “A Net of Stars,” in which a young girl wishes to become brave enough to ride the Ferris wheel, and “Moon Sandwich Mom,” the story of a young fox who runs away in search of a new mother – one who is fun.

Her “Winnie” chapter book series (for ages 7 to 10) has garnered several awards. Booklist named “Winnie Dancing on Her Own” a “top 10 first novel” and Bank Street College selected it as one of the “best children’s books of the year.” The third in the series, “Winnie at Her Best,” is due out in 2005.

In addition to writing, Jacobson is an educational consultant. She lives in Cumberland.

After the program, Jacobson will sell and sign copies of her books, and refreshments will be served. The program is best suited to elementary school-aged children and their families. All are welcome to attend.
