Marine Corps Sgt. Maynard B. Pirtle, whose wife, Chandra, is the daughter of Eileen and David Schoenherr of Raymond, recently deployed on a routine, scheduled deployment to Tindal, Australia, while assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 12, homebased at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan.
Pirtle’s unit deployed to support Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 212 and Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533 during Southern Frontier 2004, a combined exercise involving the Marine Corps and the armed forces of Australia.
Pirtle’s unit provides aviation logistics support, guidance and direction to Marine Aircraft Group 12 squadrons, as well as supplying them with munitions, aircraft armament equipment, guns and aviation weapons support equipment.
