FARMINGTON – University of Maine at Farmington Assistant Director of Admission Deborah Pluck has been named a “Counselor of the Year” by the New England Association for College Admission Counseling. The award was announced at the association’s annual meeting at Assumption College, Worcester, Mass.

The Counselor of the Year Award recognizes six outstanding professionals from New England in the field of college admission and guidance counseling each year. Pluck was nominated by her professional colleagues based on her honesty, thoroughness, patience, sensitivity, leadership and sense of humor.

Pluck began working at the University of Maine at Farmington in 2002. She received a BS from Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock, Pa., and an M.Ed. from the University of Maine. Pluck resides in Farmington.

UMF Senior Associate Director of Admission/High School Relations James Collins of Livermore Falls received the award in 1999.
