TURNER – The fifth and final show of the regular marching band season sponsored by the Maine Band Directors Association was held at Leavitt Area High School on Oct. 16. The six bands participating were Edward Little, Lawrence, Lewiston, Old Orchard Beach, Wells and the host Leavitt.
Bands receiving overall ratings of two stars were Edward Little, Lawrence, Leavitt, Lewiston and Wells high schools. Lewiston received three stars for percussion. Old Orchard Beach High School received an overall rating of three stars.
The 21st Annual Marching Band Finals sponsored by the Maine Band Directors Association will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Lawrence High School in Fairfield. The high school bands from Biddeford, Dover, Edward Little, Lawrence, Leavitt, Lewiston, Marshwood, Old Orchard Beach, Portsmouth, Sanford, South Portland, Wells and Westbrook will perform for evaluation and receive medals of gold, silver or bronze in recognition of their effort.
Admission to the finals is $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. This increased admission from the regular season is used to help defray the expenses of the awards and other expenses associated with the finals.
