Church festival

MEXICO – Mexico First Baptist Church, 20 Roxbury Road, announces its second family outreach event to be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at the church. A Fall Festival will include carnival type games, prizes and food. The Emmanuel Missions Crew Puppet Team from Emmanuel Assembly of God in Livermore Falls will give a special presentation. There is no cost to this event.

Emmanuel Missions Crew consists of teens and adults who present a message through puppets, drama and sign language. For more information or to request transportation call 364-8712 or 364-8850.

RUMFORD – The Ladies in Line dancers will meet from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesdays through Nov. 17 in the Rumford United Methodist Church fellowship hall, so that members can avail themselves of the Moving Freely exercise program. On Nov. 24, the line dancers will resume their usual 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday schedule.

Society program

MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the Calvin Lyons meeting room. A potluck supper will be served. Martha and Denise from Scrapper’s Domaine will be guest speakers and will bring materials to make a little gift to take home. The public is welcome.

Barn walk

PERU – The Peru eighth-graders are raising money for their class trip and will hold a haunted barn walk through at Bruce and Trisha Cox’s on Pleasant Street. The children have many surprises in store. The walk through will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29 and 30. Admission is $1 and there will also be a bake sale and drinks available.

RUMFORD – Rumford Senior Citizens announces upcoming trips. Fifty tickets will be available to see Bill and Gloria Gaither at Worcester, Mass., Thursday, Dec. 2, and 50 tickets to Kenny Rogers for Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Plans are being made to go see Disney on Ice in February at the Civic Center and also Stars on Ice in April. GOP adds hours

RUMFORD – The Oxford County Republican Headquarters on Congress Street will be open through election day weekdays from noon to 3 p.m. and Wednesday nights from 6 to 8. These additional hours will give the public an opportunity to receive information on candidates.
