AUGUSTA – Master Sergeant Edwin A. West, a member of the Joint Force Headquarters Detachment, Augusta, was awarded the Army Commendation Medal by Lt. Col. Gerald Dunlap on Oct. 2.

In making the presentation, it was announced that West received the award for processing more than 1,000 soldiers through the Personnel Qualification Records Station during the soldier readiness processing for mobilizations during the last two years. And because of his efforts, this helped to achieve 100 percent of the enlisted records being electronically captured in the state.

West is a letter carrier with the Lewiston Post Office and he has been a member of the Maine Guard for 29 years.
