LEWISTON – The October artist featured at the Visiting Artist Gallery at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is Roland Forgues, photographer.

Forgues, originally from Turner, now lives in Hartford. He is a member of the Chocolate Church in Bath and is an award-winning photographer as well as a writer and musician.

Forgues said, “A common man, doing a common thing, from an uncommon perspective is what I am all about. You may find me in a meadow, or listening to the rhythms of a quickly falling stream or pattering rain. Maybe you’ll find me just listening to the wind. I could be just about anywhere at any given time.”

He said, “If you ask me I’ll tell you I take pictures because to me, image involves pictures, words and music. I am always seeking new horizons, new vistas to photograph or write about, new songs to sing. My sole quest in life is to see you smile or to make you think. (I’m always looking for happy campers!) I seek to provide a place of solace and comfort to allay the madness that surrounds us.”

“If I put a smile on your face, lighten a heavy load or stir your creative muses by sharing my art with you, then I have done what I set out to do. There is no greater award or gift anyone can bestow upon me than this,” he said.

Forgues is available for talks and showings. Those wishing more information can call 388-3373 or write to 90 Carey Hill Rd., Hartford, ME 04220.
