PORTLAND – Taisto Raymond Raasumaa, 70, of South Paris died unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 28, at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in South Paris on Nov. 7, 1933, the son of Onni and Ellen Kivimaki Raasumaa. He attended schools in Paris. He had been employed at Auerbach Shoe Co. in Brunswick as a foreman, at Ripley and Fletcher, holding several department management positions while there and then at Murray Oil Co. working as an oil burner technician.

He retired on July 1. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, all outdoor activities and spending quality time with his family.

He is survived by four daughters, Linda Holladay and her husband, Greg, of Mechanic Falls, Debbie Knightly and her husband, Brian, of Upton, Sue Krinjak and Norman Penney, of Willington, Conn., and Brenda Budrock, of Paris; grandsons, Christopher Taisto Raasumaa, of Paris, Chad Raasumaa, of Salem, Conn., and Stephen Roberts, of Beal Air Force Base, Calif.; granddaughters, Stephanie Silver, of West Paris, Stacy Hall, of West Paris, Carra Krinjak, of Willington, Conn., and Erica Holladay, of Lewiston; great-grandsons, Wolfe Taisto Raasumaa and Logan Raasumaa, both of Paris, Jordan Silver, of West Paris, Colby Roberts, Timmy Roberts and Stephen Roberts, all of Beal Air Force Base, Calif., and Harley Oullette of Lewiston; great-granddaughters, Jenna Silver, of West Paris, Jasmine Cramp, of Lewiston and Emily Roberts, of Beal Air Force Base, Calif.; brothers, Arvo Raasumaa, of Paris, Tarmo Raasumaa and his wife, Sylvia, of Paris, John Raasumaa and his wife, Gerry, of Rochester, N.H., and Onni Raasumaa and his wife, Carolynne, of Paris; sisters, Elsie Pechnik, of Paris, Alli Manninen and her husband, Louis, of Norway, and Jean Wyman and her husband, Harlan, of Paris; and 13 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, Judy Raasumaa, and a sister, Helvi Raasumaa.
