RUMFORD – Rep. John Patrick retained his District 92 seat, besting political newcomer Paula Smith, a Republican from Andover, Tuesday night.

“I think it’s a great privilege to be elected a third time so I’m extremely thankful to the people throughout this district that support me,” he said Wednesday night.

A Rumford Democrat, Patrick has served in the Legislature for four years. He supports bringing economic development, jobs and education to the River Valley area and to Maine.

He also seeks to consolidate government services and to provide state residents with tax relief.

“I’m looking forward to working with the governor on tax relief and tax reform. But right now, now that all but three of my signs are picked up, I hope to get them tomorrow and rest for four to five days,” Patrick said.

The final tally was Patrick with 3,115 votes, Smith with 1,646.

House District 92 is composed of Andover, Byron, Madrid, Rangeley Plantation, Roxbury, Rumford, Sandy River Plantation, Weld and West Central Franklin Township.
