MONMOUTH – A surprise party was held recently for Maurice and Rolande Lachapelle of Monmouth, on the occasion of their 40th wedding anniversary.

The event was held at the Sedgeley Place in Greene and was planned by their children, Jerry Lachapelle and his wife, Kelly, of Smithsburg, Md., and Christine Lachapelle of Winthrop and two grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan of Maryland.

The couple renewed their vows, with the Rev. Andrew Dubois officiating. Decorations were in burgundy with white lace hearts with the couple’s original wedding picture, red balloons and red glass hearts.

Mr. Lachapelle and the former Rolande LaBonte were married on Aug. 8, 1964, at Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, N.H.

Mrs. Lachapelle has been a homemaker and a volunteer worker for many organizations. Mr. Lachapelle has been an electrician at Bath Iron Works for the past 26 years. The couple enjoyed a tour across the southern part of the United States.
