LEWISTON – A special event, “Africa is Calling You,” will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College.

The event will get under way at 2:30 p.m. with a presentation by Betty Robinson, Ph.D., and several students who traveled to Botswana and South Africa last May. They will discuss what they learned on the trip and the international academic, business and community partnerships they explored. The presentation is free and open to the public.

A silent auction of African crafts will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. with proceeds to benefit the next international travel experience for students.

A special wine tasting will begin at 4 p.m. A tea bar featuring teas from Africa and Asia will be featured, and finger foods and desserts will also be served. Tickets for the wine tasting are $20, and each ticket admits two attendees.

Tickets will be available at the door or may be purchased in advance by calling Anne at 786-4200. All wine tasting attendees must be 21 years or older.

The event is sponsored by Leaders Enabling Aspirations and Dreams through Education and Resources. The organization is a forum for USM/L-A’s students to explore leadership interests beyond the classroom.

The organization provides the information, structure and resources for students to experience educational opportunities at regional, national and international venues.
