FARMINGTON – Students in grades pre-school through sixth in Farmington schools and Cape Cod Hill School in New Sharon painted business and store windows Oct. 29 in downtown Farmington. The annual Halloween window-painting contest has been held for more than 30 years and is sponsored by the Farmington Business and Professional Association and the Farmington Rotary Club.

Contestants are grouped into five classifications: preschool, kindergarten, grades one and two, grade three and four and grades five and six. Prizes are awarded to each group by the Farmington Rotary Club in the following denominations: first, $10; second, $8; third, $6; fourth, $4; and fifth, $2.

Paintings are judged on originality, technique, neatness and area, and the Halloween or autumn theme. There were 125 children taking part this year. Listed below are the winners in each category:

Preschool: Jared McCabe, Joseph Crandall, Shantel Hallman, Kahryn Cullenberg, Samantha Ellis.

Kindergarten: Mitchell Wallace, James McCabe, Brandon Bard, David McDOnald, Adeline Schanz.

Grades one and two: Samantha Reynolds, Lauren Duvall, Park Laflin, Icie Haines, Alexis Wyman.

Grades three and four: Sean McGuire, Yackeline Rivero, Hannah Gibson, Sarah McDonald, Brianna Gelinas.

Grades five and six: Abby Flanagan, Gwen Beacham, Addie Cullenberg, Chelsea McGraw, Jessica Thompson.
