RUMFORD – A special pre-celebration for Veterans Day will be held Wednesday, Nov. 10, at SeniorsPlus Dining Center, 50 Congress St. A flag salute will be held at 11 a.m. followed with entertainment by Bunny Pache at the organ, playing patriotic music and favorites.

Dinner will be served at 11:30 a.m. and the menu will include roast pork, whipped potato, peas, carrots, dinner roll, applesauce and choice of coffee, tea or milk. A donation of $2.50 is asked for those 60 and over, their spouses, disabled and SeniorsPlus volunteers; $4 for those under 60. For reservations, call Kim at 364-3572.

PERU – The Peru Extension Homemakers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Peru School. Topic will be aprons and holders. Lunch will be potluck. Eileen Pelletier has the mystery.

Info sessions

MEXICO – On Monday, Nov. 15, University College at Rumford/Mexico, 13 Brown St., will offer information sessions about two University of Southern Maine graduate programs: the master of science in adult education from 4 to 5 p.m. and the master of science in counseling with a concentration in rehabilitation counseling from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.

Courses in the programs are delivered online (M.S. in adult education) and via videoconferencing (M.S. in rehabilitation counseling) to University College Centers statewide.

Region 9 event

MEXICO – The Region 9 School of Applied Technology will host its annual community open house from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16. It is an opportunity for parents, students, prospective students and community members to learn about the programs at Region 9, meet teachers and tour the facility.

There will also be a special financial aid presentation, put on by the Finance Authority of Maine, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. For more information call 364-3764.
