AUBURN – Auburn VFW Post Commander Tom Trottier announces that the post is preparing to send packages to the 619th Transportation Co., serving in Iraq.

The post adopted the 619th and is looking for donations from anyone wishing to help the servicemen. Anyone wishing to donate can bring items to the VFW Post at 588 Minot Ave. from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday or call the post at 783-2561 for more information.

Chairman Nathan Reed served in Iraq and told members how much it means to the troops.

Needed items include phone cards, stationary, pens, pencils, baby wipes, tooth paste and brushes, sunscreen, chapstick, deodorant, shaving cream, foot powder, socks, fingernail clippers, combs, toilet paper, tampons, liquid bug killer, videos, DVDs, dry condensed soup, candy bars, beef jerky, snack items, gum, Gatorade mix, magazines, newspapers, playing cards, prayers and letters, donations for postage and flashlights and other items that someone could use in the desert.
