LEWISTON – Ruth Frances LaFrance, 80, of Maine Street, Poland Spring, passed away Friday evening at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, after a long illness.
She was born in Lowell, Mass., a daughter of James and Ruth Torpey, and attended local schools.
Mrs. LaFrance, along with her husband, moved to Maine in 1985.
She enjoyed her family and friends, and spending time at Long Sands Beach, York.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Cheryl Bourque LaFrance, in 1997; and by her sister, Marion, in 1943.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Conrad LaFrance, of Poland Spring; two sons, Brian of Salem, N.H., and Rodney of Poland Spring; two brothers, James Torpey of Oregon, and Thomas Torpey of Lowell, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
