PERU – Last year, 6.6 million needy children in 95 countries received wrapped Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts.

Collection is under way for this year’s Christmas outreach. Friends of a Mission youth group invite schools, churches and individuals in the community to be part of the project. The packed shoeboxes will be taken to a collection center in Whitefield on Saturday, Nov. 20.

Last year the group delivered 99 boxes from the area and helped to load more than 4,500 boxes into transport trucks at the collection center.

For more information or to arrange pickup of a shoebox, call 562-8278 (preferably in the evening) or log onto www.samaritanspurse.org. Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian relief and evangelism ministry led by Franklin Graham, son of Dr. Billy Graham.
