LEWISTON – Emile W. Picard, 83, of Second Street, Auburn, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 17, at Central Maine Medical Center with his family at his side.

He was born in Lewiston Sept. 16, 1921, a son of Frank and Leotide (Pinard) Picard. He was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. He was a Veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On May 3, 1947, he married the former Cecile Samson. Mr. Picard worked many years in local shoe and textile mills and later spent 15 years as a baker in food service at Central Maine Medical Center until his retirement. He was a member of St. Louis Church and in his free time he enjoyed oil painting on canvas, many of which are treasured by family members.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Cecile Picard, of Auburn; two daughters, Therese Ouellette and husband, Richard, of Sabattus and Diane Callis and husband, Arthur, of Kingman, Ariz.; three grandsons, Eric Gagnon, of Wales, and Brian Gagnon and Craig Gagnon, both of Sabattus.

He was predeceased by 15 brothers and sisters.
