LEWISTON – Arthur Joseph Theriault, 79, of 11 Peter Blvd., passed away Wednesday morning at d’Youville Pavilion with his family by his side.

He was born in Augusta, the son of Levite and Leda Bourgoin Theriault.

He was a resident of this community for 75 years and was educated in Lewiston schools.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was married Oct. 22, 1945 to Albertine “Betty” Gervais at St. Mary’s Church.

He had been employed in the local shoe industry, most of his life at Songo Shoe, then as a foreman at Billing Shoe for many years until his retirement.

He was a member of Holy Family Church. Arthur was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved to hunt, fish and play horseshoes. Most of all he loved to be with his family and loved his family and wife with all of his heart.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Albertine “Betty” Gervais Theriault, of Lewiston; two sons, Don “DT” Theriault and wife, Phyllis, of New Hampshire, and Ron “RT” Theriault and companion, Jane Michaud, of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Don Jr. and wife, Karen, of Litchfield, Denise and love of her life, Tony Ferland, Matt, Katie, Christopher, Joseph and Mike Riggs and wife, April; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brian, Makali, Baily, Danika and Emily.

He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Blanche; and a brother, Peter, who was killed in World War II and received a Purple Heart.
