LEWISTON – Kathleen Montejo of Bowdoinham was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Informed Notaries of Maine.

The board was formed in 1993 at the suggestion of the Secretary of State’s office whose goal is to ensure that the 26,000 notaries in the state are educated about the legal, ethical and technical facets of performing notary acts.

Montejo has been Lewiston city clerk since January 1999. Prior to that she was the city clerk of Bath for two years and administrative assistant and town clerk of Woolwich for five years.

Montejo also serves on the Maine Secretary of State’s Elections Advisory Committee and was selected by her peers as the Maine Municipal Clerk of the Year in 2000. She was the Lorraine M. Fleury Award recipient for Excellence in Election Administration.

Montejo graduated in 1991 from the University of Maine with a BA in public management and a minor in public relations. She has been a notary for 14 years.
