LEWISTON – A free Thanksgiving Eve dinner at 5 p.m. and country music concert at 6 p.m. by local artist Dick Secord, will take place Wednesday, Nov. 24, at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 59 Sabattus St.

Holiday service

AUBURN – As it has for more than 100 years, the Church of Christ, Scientist invites the community to share their gratitude at a 10 a.m. service on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 25.

The hour will feature a time for giving thanks by the audience as well as a short Bible lesson, music and reading the President’s official Thanksgiving Proclamation. Members of the church will conduct the celebration.

Africa is topic

LEWISTON – “Togo and Zimbabwe: Life in the Foreign Service” will be the subject of a presentation at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College on Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Sponsored by International Students of Lewiston-Auburn College, the program will feature a slide show by former Foreign Service officer Michael Wygant. During his career Wygant served in Zimbabwe (then Southern Rhodesia), Togo and the Gambia.

The event, free and open to the public, will be held at 11:45 a.m. in Room 214 at the Lewiston-Auburn Campus, 51 Westminster St. It will be an opportunity to learn about African history and what it is like to work for the Foreign Service.
