LEWISTON – The Longley-Dionne Post 9150, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Auxiliary will meet at noon Sunday, Nov. 28, at Lewiston Lodge of Elks, 1675 Lisbon St. All officers and members are encouraged to attend.

The agenda includes membership, upcoming programs, presentation of Patriot’s Pen awards, Voice of Democracy awards, a special presentation for Americanism teacher of the year and award to Lewiston High School Air Force Junior ROTC for supporting VFW, Voice of Democracy scholarship program.

Any veteran qualified for membership is encouraged to join the VFW. A light lunch will be served after the presentation of awards.

Distribution day

AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve, part of Serve New England’s food and volunteer program, will hold its alternate registration date for the Dec. 18 Distribution Day from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance. OES degrees

AUBURN – A special meeting of Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St., for the purpose of conferring the degrees of the order.

Bernard Gaines Jr., chairman of the Vision Committee in Maine, has been invited to welcome the new members.

All Eastern Star members are welcome. Refreshments will be served in the dining hall following the degree work.

Class luncheon

MEXICO – The women of the Mexico Class of 1955 will meet at the Far East Restaurant at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Gifts sent

LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, recently shipped eight large boxes of Christmas gifts to a 75-member Marine MP Company in the Sunni Triangle, Iraq. Gifts for each man included a Christmas stocking containing a one-time use camera, socks, homemade candy and cookies and lip balm.

Group gifts included many DVD movies, softcover books and additional candy and cookies. Funding was obtained by direct solicitation of the membership and additional funds from the post.
