LEWISTON – Heather Morin, 26, of Lewiston is training and raising money for a 26-mile marathon in January 2005. Morin has committed herself to train and run the 26.2-mile marathon and raise $3,800 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

She joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training Program. It is an endurance training program for walkers, runners, cyclists and triathletes: novice and expert. Morin has a coach and team of other Maine participants who will also fund-raise.

Morin will run in honor of Doris Ewing, Honored Hero, and Barbara Taylor, Honored Teammate. Both are survivors of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Ewing, 54, is a Maine resident who has completed two marathons through Team in Training to date. Taylor, 31, is a Massachusetts resident and has just finished her last chemotherapy treatment.

Since the Team in Training Program started in 1988, it has trained 190,000 individuals who have raised more than $430 million.

Anyone interested in helping or anyone who has fund-raising ideas can call 740-4474. More information can be seen at www.teamintraining.org/personalpages.
