NORWAY – Wendell E. Berry, 94, of Oxford died Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.
He was born in Carthage Sept. 27, 1910, the son of Erlon R. and Harriett M. Savage Berry. He attended schools in Carthage and Berry Mills.
He worked for Sanborn Motor Express in the vehicle maintenance department.
He was a member of the Weary Club, and the Stone-Smart American Legion where he recently received a merit award. He loved to dance and was state bowling champion in 1952.
He married Marion Chapman on Dec. 18, 1980.
He is survived by his wife, of Oxford; a son, David Horne of Santa Claus, Ind.; two daughters, Wendy Sparry of Stafford, Va., and Maryke Jordan of St. Petersburg, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and three sisters, Arlene Swett of Dixfield, Lucille Bradbury of Winter Haven, Fla., and Dorothy Mason of Carthage.
He was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice.
