LEWISTON – Alfreda Cyr, 94, formerly of 83 Androscoggin Ave., Lewiston, died Friday, Nov. 26, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion where she resided for the past three years.

Born in Van Buren, March 2, 1910, a daughter of Fred and Annie Madore Bell, she was educated in Van Buren schools. She married Nazaire Cyr, who died Jan. 1, 1978.

She relocated to Lewiston in 1941, and devoted most of her life to her 10 children who loved her dearly. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, belonged to the Ladies of Saint Anne Society, and once was their Mother of the Year. Being a great seamstress, she worked dressing dolls for their Christmas fairs.

After raising her family, she became a nurse’s aide, and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for 12 years, retiring at the age of 67.

She is survived by four sons, Eugene Cyr of Lewiston, Daniel Cyr and his wife, Irene, of Lewiston, David Cyr and his companion, Diane Beckim, of Lewiston, and Victor Cyr and his wife, Sharon, of Warner Robins, Ga.; five daughters, Jeanine Seversike of Chula Vista, Calif., Elaine A. Berube of Auburn, Nancy Henaire of Biddeford, Vivian Cyr of Lewiston, and Mona Bosse and her husband, Paul, of Peoria, Ariz.; one daughter-in-law, Bernadette Cyr of Lewiston; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Emile Bell and his wife, Terry, of Lewiston, and Victor Bell and his wife, Lena, of Oxford; and one sister, Aline Violette and her husband, Benny, of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her husband, Nazaire Cyr; one son, Gilman Cyr; two brothers, Herbert Bell and Arthur Bell; two sisters, Edna Cyr and Rita Dube; one grandson, Brian Morin; and one great-granddaughter, Chelsea.
