PARIS – The Floyd A. Harlow Jr. Chapter, VFW, and Auxiliary will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the post home, East Main Street, South Paris. A social hour at 5:30 p.m. will be followed by supper at 6. Casseroles, salads and desserts will be needed. Guests will be the Patriot Pen essay contest winners.
Artists’ reception
BERLIN, N.H. – An artists’ reception will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, presented by Gorham High School’s natural arts class at Northern Forest Heritage Park, 961 Main St. There will be light refreshments. Open house
FRYEBURG – The Fryeburg Historical Society Museum at 511 Main St. will deck the halls for a holiday open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, prior to the Christmas tree lighting at Bradley Park at 6 p.m. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.
The Fryeburg Historical Society will host its holiday party for members at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the home of Diane and Ed Jones in North Fryeburg. Those attending should bring a salad. Bridge results
NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge played Nov. 26 in the Fare Share Commons Art Collective Room. The results for the morning were: first, Les Buzzell and Mimi Bell; second, Bill Bowman and Marta Clements; third, Pam and Errol Libby; fourth, Nancy Farmer and Michael Newsom; and fifth, Eleanor Griffin and Jim Dickens.
Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge is open to all. A game is played at 9 a.m. every Friday at the Fare Share Coop, 445 Main St. Parking and entrance are behind the store. Those interested can call Mimi Bell at 743-8081.
Meetings
WEST PARIS – The West Paris Senior Citizens will hold a Christmas luncheon party at noon Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the West Paris Baptist Church. An exchange of generic gifts of about $3 each will be held.
Ring McKeen Post 151 American Legion, and Auxiliary met at the Finnish-American Hall on Maple Street recently. There will be no meeting in December because of Christmas and New Year activities.
Cantata planned
WEST PARIS – The Voices for Christ, a combined choir from several churches, will present a Christmas cantata, “Emmanuel – Celebrating Heaven’s Child,” created by Joel Lindsey and Russell Mauldin, at four locations.
The first will be Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Seventh-Day Advent Church on Perkins Valley Road, Woodstock. The second performance will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the West Paris Baptist Church, Church Street; third, 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at the Dixfield Congregational Church, High Street; fourth, 6 p.m. Sunday Dec. 19, at the East Sumner Congregational Church, Route 219.
Gift shop open
GORHAM, N.H. – The Pathways Gift Shop officially opened on Nov. 6. Jewelry, candles, crystals, stones and other items are available from SERRV International, a world-wide fair trade organization. Joan Chamberlain won a door prize of a full Reiki session. Betty Gosselin is proprietor of the shop.
