LEWISTON – Franco-American Heritage Center performers for the Friday, Dec. 3, “La Rencontre” will be 5- and 6-year-old students from L’Ecole Franaise du Maine in Freeport. They will sing in French and recite French poetry.

The purpose of the gathering of approximately 185 people is to speak only French for an hour and a half, have a meal and a program of either music or of an educational nature.

The meal for December will be a Christmas turkey dinner furnished by Rolly’s Diner. The price is $6.50 a person, and all are welcome. Anyone interested in attending may do so by making reservations with Claudette at 786-6936.

The first- and second-grade students will perform French songs, recite French poems and play music for the luncheon reception.

Classical guitarist and Suzuki guitar teacher Nathan Kolosko will accompany the children for their performance at the luncheon.

The mission of L’Ecole Franaise du Maine is to offer an educational experience that occurs completely in French. The children are encouraged daily to gain their confidence and to express themselves freely in French as well as through various art forms.

The school offers music instruction, taught through the Suzuki method.
