PARIS – Interviews for a new manager are going well, according to Bill Merrill, chairman of the Board of Selectman.

“We have a great batch (of candidates) to pick from. I like what I’ve seen so far,” he said after a second round of candidate interviews Tuesday.

The selectmen meet at 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday to interview five candidates chosen from an initial pool of 32. Merrill said the board will meet again Dec. 6 to continue the interview process. The meetings are being held in executive session as allowed under state law.

Merrill would not say whether the pool of candidates has been narrowed this week. He also has refused to say whether any of the candidates are local or from out of state.

The town has been without a manager since Steve McAllister left his post on Nov. 11, after taking a month of vacation time. Elisa Whiteley has been filling in as interim town manager.

Merrill has said it is difficult to tell how long the hiring process will take. When the board hired McAllister, it interviewed several candidates twice.
