LEWISTON – Employees of Androscoggin Bank raised $13,900 for the 2004 Central Maine Heart Walk held on Sept. 26, to benefit the American Heart Association. The amount exceeded the bank’s original goal by $8,800. The walk is the American Heart Association’s premier walking and fund-raising event that raises money to fight heart disease and stroke.

Androscoggin Bank President Steve Closson served as the event’s chairman. “The 2004 Central Maine Heart Walk was a tremendous success due in part to the efforts of many dedicated Androscoggin Bank employees,” said Closson. “Everyone did a fantastic job in creating ways to raise money for the American Heart Association that will go toward funding vital research and community education programs right here in Maine.”

In addition, the Heart Walk’s overall fund-raising goal was exceeded by more than $34,500. Organizers had set a goal of $85,000, and more than $119,500 was raised.
