WILTON – Franklin Grange 50 met on Nov. 13 at the hall for a potluck lunch followed by a regular meeting featuring guest officers.

The judging for the molasses cookie baking contest will be done at the March 12 meeting.

The Maine State Grange conference was held in Bangor. Franklin took third place in the state publicity contest and tied for first in getting new members. The group is working on developing new ideas for their community service projects.

A card was signed and sent to lecturer Helen Bubier.

The opening thought for the program was “People who are busy rowing seldom rock the boat.”

The group had a “pound auction.” Everything was wrapped in brown paper and was suppose to weigh a pound. Some items were sugar, pea beans and tea bags with rocks. Master Mike Flagg was the auctioneer. The event earned money for the Committee on Women’s Activities.

The next meeting will be a surprise event on Saturday, Dec. 11. Everyone attending will meet at 9 a.m. at the Flagg home on Depot Street. Those wanting details can call Mike or Karen Flagg at 645-9861.
