LEWISTON – The Jesus Party urban youth outreach announces its December holiday schedule. All activities will take place or begin at the Jesus Party Headquarters at 291 Bates St.

Children will take the yearly traditional field trip to see the Living Nativity at the Vineyard Church of Lewiston at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, and 6 and 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10.

Children will board the Jesus Party van at 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 11 and 18, for a tour of the area’s Christmas light displays. They will finish the evening with holiday refreshments.

Friday, Dec. 17, children will be surrounded by an atmosphere of Christmas joy and cheer as they join the directors, Doug and Sonia Taylor, for holiday sing-a-longs and an ice cream social.

The Jesus Party will hold its annual birthday party for Jesus on Thursday, Dec. 23. The ministry’s decor will resemble that of an actual birthday party, complete with cake and presents. The Jesus Party is a distributor of the “Toys for Tots” program and will make the toys available at the event.

The ministry will kick off its “Winter School Vacation Fun Nights,” beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Dec. 27, by holding gingerbread man baking and decorating classes. Tuesday, Dec. 28, through Thursday, Dec. 30, kids will see a selection of holiday films, have seasonal snacks and sing yuletide carols.

Area youth are invited to celebrate the arrival of 2005 “Kids’ Style” at 6 p.m. Dec. 31. All participating will receive derby hats or tiaras, noisemakers, leis and a buffet of kids’ favorite foods. The children will toast in the New Year with “Shirley Temple” drinks.

Rides to every event are available by contacting the ministry at 786-5568, or for more information send an e-mail to SisActs1@aol.com.

The ministry is a nonprofit organization and there is no charge for any of the events, open to area children ages 5 and up.

All that is necessary for a child to participate is an application, which will need to be signed by a parent or guardian.
