WELD – Bethany Helms and Benjamin Lewis were married on Aug. 7 at the lakefront of the Kawanhee Inn in Weld.

The bride is the daughter of Charles and Lelia Helms of Iowa City, Iowa. The bridegroom is the son of Craig and Lori Lewis of Wilton.

Wesley and Timothy Helms, brothers of the bride, were her attendants. Zoe Lewis, sister of the bridegroom, was the bridesmaid. Terrence McGovern and Geoffrey Dunmore were best men.

The bride’s father and the bridegroom’s mother sang at the ceremony, which was officiated by Doug Walrath. Viola and cello music was performed by Meredith Pedde and Laura Lee, friends of the couple. Artwork for the ceremony program was done by Zoe Lewis, sister of the bridegroom, and the Rev. Edgar J. Helms, great uncle of the bride, offered a blessing.

The reception at the Kawanhee Inn featured contradancing, followed by a picnic and Blueberry Festival fireworks at the home of the bridegroom’s parents that evening.

Mr. Lewis is a 1996 graduate of Mt. Blue High School and both he and his wife are 2000 graduates of Harvard University. They are both medical students at the University of Iowa Medical School in Iowa City, where Mrs. Lewis is also pursuing a master’s degree in public health. The couple hope to practice medicine in a developing country when their studies are completed.

After a honeymoon backpacking in Denali National Park in Alaska and a bike trip in Nova Scotia, the couple is residing in Iowa City, Iowa.
