AUBURN – The local chapter of Club Richelieu International will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant for a Christmas meal. Mario Gendron will MC the traditional Chinese auction. Members and guests are reminded to bring a gift valued at least $5 for the auction.

Grange program

AUBURN – Danville Junction Grange 65 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at the grange. A Christmas program will be presented, and the drawing for the quilt raffle, a fund-raiser for repairs to the hall, will be held.

Members are reminded to bring food items for the Christmas box, a community service project. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.

Lodge night

WALES – Webster Lodge 164, AF and AM, will host a Past Master’s Night communication on Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Wales Grange/Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road.

There will be a 6:30 p.m. supper followed by the work of the evening in the Master Mason Degree at 7:30. Members and visiting Master Masons are invited to attend.

AUBURN – Twin City Council 160, United Commercial Travelers of America, will meet at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Odd Fellows Hall on Elm Street. A ham supper will be served at the close of the meeting. Members are reminded to bring a Christmas gift for a member of the same sex for the gift exchange. All members and guests are welcome.

Program for vets

AUBURN – The Court Street Baptist Church members honored veterans at a special morning worship service on Nov. 14. The New Auburn Legion Post 153, American Legion, honor guard presented the American flag and organist Kathy Haley and trumpeter Roger Renaud accompanied the congregation in the singing of the national anthem.

Coast Guard veteran Marcia Coddington gave a presentation concerning the origin and significance of the Purple Heart and Al Pelletier sang his composition, “The Wisdom We Gained,” which is the song that accompanies the Moveable Vietnam Wall exhibit.

The Rev. Dr. Foster Williams gave sermon, “Lest We Forget,” and the service concluded with the retiring of the Colors and the playing of “Taps.”

No meeting

MINOT – The Minot Historical Society will not meet during December or February. Members will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the Minot Town Hall.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Nov. 30 at the Multi-Purpose Center. North/South winners in Flight A were: first, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Fred Letourneau and Martine Begert; third, Roger Briggs and Lucille Bilodeau. Flight B winners were: first, Roger Briggs and Lucille Bilodeau; second, Grace Merry and Alberta Turner.

East/West winners in Flight A were: first, Leslie Buzzell and Lucille Theriault; second, Helen Little and Eleanor Abraham; third, Dick Horne and Nancy Lindgren. Flight B winners were Helen Little and Eleanor Abraham.

Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Multi-Purpose Center. A partner is guaranteed.

The club also met on Dec. 1 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. North/South winners in Flight A were: first, Patricia Garcia and Martine Begert; second, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus; third, Bruce Murray and Lucille Theriault.

East/West winners in Flight A were: first, Richard Horne and Nancy Lindgren; second, Ray Sirois and John Hackett; third,- Mike and Pat Quinn.
