TURNER – SAD 52 announces that John Jenkins has been invited to present his Inspired 2B Great! Program to the staff of River Valley School and Adult Education and to the students of River Valley School grades nine to 12.

Family members are invited to participate in the learning process. Approximately 40 parents were introduced to Inspired 2B Great! at an October supper, and future opportunities will be planned for parents and students.

Jenkins is the 2004 Distinguished Service Award recipient from the Maine Bar Association, he is a member of the Lewiston/Auburn Sports Hall of Fame, Maine Sports Hall of Fame and the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Jenkins is also on the board of trustees for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. He is the former mayor of Lewiston, serving two terms (1993 to 1997) and served as a state senator in the 118th Legislature.

Jenkins will offer members of the team skills and strategies that can be applied throughout life. Goal setting, developing resources, planning action steps and time management will be explored.

The core issues of the program are a community/mentoring collaboration involving youth to youth, adult to youth and adult to adult, which will combine work and career readiness, career navigation skills for success in work and life.

Jenkins will oversee projects developed by the students. He is developing career and mentoring opportunities coupled with developing new attitudes about personal, family, community, economic development, wellness and understanding universal ethics and positive motivation. The work will culminate in helping create a standard for River Valley School becoming a great school in the community.
