PARIS – A Bethel man pleaded guilty to one of two criminal threatening charges Tuesday in Oxford County Superior Court.

Judge Ellen Gorman sentenced John P. Buck, 20, to a year in the county jail, but then ordered the sentencing hearing to be continued for a year before making a final decision.

Buck was then conditionally released on $1,000 unsecured bail.

Buck was initially arrested on Aug. 24 at a beach in Oxford for allegedly using a knife to threaten a 45-year-old Otisfield man, according to documents in his court file.
