WEST BATH – Kenneth B. Stailing, 50, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, at a Brunswick hospital.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1954, a son of Robert N. and Marilyn Longley Stailing.

He grew up in Bath and graduated from Morse High School, class of 1973. He attended North Yarmouth Academy and the University of Maine in Orono.

He married Katherine J. Morey of West Paris on May 21, 1978. Together they raised four children during 26 years of marriage.

At the time of his death, “Kenny” was employed as a Safety Engineer at Bath Iron Works. He began his career there as a ship fitter and remained with BIW for 26 years.

He was a longtime member of the Bath Lodge of Elks, the Morse High School All Sports Boosters, the Sage Swingers Square Dance Club, and the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

He was an avid sports enthusiast and devoted many years to coaching young people’s basketball. This was second only to his love for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; three daughters, Lisa and her husband, Michael Chaffin, of Kissimmee, Fla., Kerri and her husband, Kris Bouchard, of Lisbon, and Katie R., a senior at the University of Rhode Island; a son, Eric M., a student at the University of Maine in Farmington; his father, Robert; two brothers, Robbie and Michael of Damariscotta. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and a nephew. He was anticipating the birth of his first grandchild in May.

Throughout his life, he was blessed with many devoted and caring friends – too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
