CANTON – Once again a tree is lit on the Rebekah Lodge property in memory of loved ones. Those interested should call Doris (Polly) Brown at 597-2541 with names. A $2 donation is asked for each bulb. The Rebekah Thanksgiving pie sale was a success.

Holiday concert

RUMFORD – The Mountain Valley High School music department will hold its annual holiday concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, in the Muskie Auditorium, with a storm date of the following evening.

Performing music of the season, the concert will feature the band, chorus, jazz ensemble and select vocal group. Donations will be accepted at the door to defray expenses. The public is invited.

Church concert

CANTON – Canton Community Church will present its Christmas concert, “Not So Silent Night,” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18. Gather around the town Christmas tree for a time of community fellowship and singing following the church program at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Meetings canceled

RUMFORD – Due to weather uncertainties, the Ladies in Line dancers, who meet weekly at the Rumford United Methodist Church, will not meet until further notice.

Toy drive

CANTON – The Canton Elementary School PTO is sponsoring a toy and food drive. Donations are being sought for nonperishable food items and new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages. There will be two boxes located at the school for the collection.

The items will be distributed to families in Canton through the Santa’s Angels program run by the town. The drive started in November and ends Friday, Dec. 17. Donations may be left at the town office.

Cookie sale

CANTON – The Victorian Villa Day Services will have a Christmas cookie bag sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17. Proceeds will go to the Adult Day Services special activity fund so clients can attend special outings and get a new CD/DVD player.
