PORTLAND – Rep. Tom Allen announces that he has nominated 26 young Maine men and women for appointment to the Army, Navy, Air Force and Merchant Marine academies. Because five of the students are nominated to more than one academy, Allen has made a total of 31 service academy nominations in 2004.

Area students named are the following:

U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

Stephen R. Hennigar, a 2004 graduate of Lake Region High School, is the son of Lyn and Steve Hennigar of Sebago.

Kevin L. Keenan, a senior at Cheverus High School, is the son of Melinda Loring of Portland and Robert Keenan of Durham.

Traci Lynn Thomas, a senior at Windham High School, is the daughter of Terri Lynn Thomas of Windham.

U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo.

Hugh T. Corbett Jr., a senior at Messalonskee High School, is the son of Laura and Hugh Corbett of Belgrade.

U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md.

Charles W. Cramer, a 2004 graduate of Lake Region High School, is the son of Margaret and Gary Cramer of Naples.

Nyssa A.S. Robinson, a senior at Kents Hill School, is the daughter of Robin D. Robinson of Manchester.

Allen will host a reception in January for the service academy nominees and their families at Portland City Hall.
