BUCKFIELD – The Zadoc Long Free Library announces that $877 has been raised toward a goal of $1,000 for the archiving of materials.
Some of the materials being archived are the journals of Charles H. Prince of the 23rd Maine and many photos, letters, journals and documents of the Long family.
The library was donated to the town of Buckfield by John D. Long, who was governor of Massachusetts, secretary of the Navy and a summer resident of Buckfield. Other members of the Long family resided here year-round.
Anyone wishing to make a tax-deductible donation to help reach the goal can send it to Zadoc Long Free Library, P.O. Box 158, Buckfield, ME 04220.
